Because it seems brands borrow design elements from each other.

They’re both SUVs.

I was just thinking this the other day. The Jeep GC, Dodge Charger and the Chrysler 300 have the same LED DRL design. Lazy

They’re also both basically the same car.

Well yeah. they’re the same car underneath.

pretty sure that lazy is the Mopar MO.

The thing that bugs me is that the Rolls-Royce Ghost/Dawn and the Jeep GC a very similar (at a glance, but that’s what counts) LED headlight pattern. It looks good on the Jeep, but RR can do better... Not entirely because of Jeep’s headlights, but it definitely helps bring it down. The dawn would be so much better off looking a little closer to the Phantom. You could argue that they want it to look different than the Phantom... to that I say look at the taillights.

You bastard, now it is ruined. (I’d still love one!)

If I have to suffer, so do you.
On the plus side, now you can go get a Grand Cherokee and kid yourself it’s a Rolls-Royce!

The Chrysler 300 has styling cues copied from Rolls Royce.

two cars that share the same chassis and underpinnings look roughly the same.
YA DONT SAY?

It is probably corporate dictated to have brand unity. Same with corporate grills. Not lazy, just pushed down from above.

They share the same engine?

Not a great excuse, the Mazda 3, Volvo c30 and the Ford Focus were pretty much the same car underneath too.

Uh... The headlights on the 300 and the GC are totally different, and the 300 and Ghost look nothing alike. Besides, the 300 first used those headlights in 2011, and the Ghost didn’t use them until 2014.

FCA needs a lot more cash with which to hire enough decent employees to do all the work required to keep themselves afloat.
In reality, it seems many people are jumping ship to get a more competitive salary and some job security.

Shit, guess I misread that article a while back when the Grand Cherokee’s styling was changed. I think the similarities are debatable but RR copied Chrysler? Oh shit.

Most good car companies feature similar-looking cars across the lineup. BMW? Audi? Rolls? Lamborghini? Tesla?
This is driven by Sales & Marketing, not laziness. Also, bear in mind, that we’re largely talking about the same designers here, using the same or similar platforms. Picasso’s paintings tend to look similar, too.

Although, if they died, would anyone really care? It’s not like Chrysler has designed a decent car completely on their own in the last 40-50 years. Fiat produces roughly the same grade of crap, so they’re kind of made for each-other.
I know there aren’t many places to go in the auto manufacturing world, but in my field you’d be a fool to stay anywhere more than a handful of years with how rapidly salaries are rising. Nobody seems to give raises that keep up with starting salaries elsewhere, so they lose whatever talent they were able to find in the first place...

I mean, why do you think they host this every year? (I participate :)

If
FCA died off, Fiat, (probably) Ferrari, Maserati, and Alfa Romeo would find new ownership, but I can’t say the same about Dodge or Chrysler or Lancia.

The Ford Fusion and Mazda 6 were on the same platform, and they looked pretty different.

As far as the US goes, Jeep and Ram aren’t going anywhere, and Dodge is probably safe too.
Outside of that, not sure that any of their other brands would be missed.

Yeah, the first two have cachet. Someone would buy them. Dodge is more of a dice roll, but someone might buy it cheap just to have the name.
Totally agree otherwise.
